EMERSON HAS CONSTITUENTS ARRESTED

Rather than speaking on the phone with constituents regarding setting up a time to meet and talk the Member of Parliament for Vancouver-Kingsway decided to have them arrested. A group of concerned Vancouver-Kingsway constituents protested their Member of Parliament's decision to cross the floor immediately after being elected by staging a peaceful "sit-in" with the media present. The group agreed to leave as soon as Mr. Emerson called them on the phone to indicate a time and place to meet (his office had already agreed that he would set up a time and place to meet). In stead of making the call to them... he felt it was more appropriate to call the police and have them arrested. It must be said that the police conducted themselves in a professional manner at all times and were certainly frustrated by Mr. Emerson's unwillingness to work with them to resolve the matter in a civil and adult manner.

Court appearance dates are scheduled for March 27th should the Crown wish to proceed with charges.
