« Extremely well said! | Home | More de-elect Emerson signs heading to Vancouver »

Democracy is indeed alive and well

The campaign to De-elect David Emerson has been receiving over 5 times the number of sign requests since the Shapiro ruling than had preceded it. As the demand is outstripping the supply we will be ordering another 1000 signs next week.

Due to this unprecedented demand we are pulling out all the stops this weekend to try and catch-up. Volunteers will be assembling at 12pm Saturday, March 25th at the corner of 41st and Fraser St. in Vancouver Kingsway.

Contrary to some reports…news of our death are indeed premature and we will not go quietly into the night! In fact we are only gaining steam as Canadians seek an outlet to channel their frustration over both Minister Emerson and the Prime Ministers assertion that the only people who disagree with them are “political partisan zealots”. Donations are pouring in from across the country.

We have continued to seek an intelligent, respectful conversation with Mr. Emerson through the auspices of a “town hall” meeting to no avail. It therefore is time to ramp up the fight for respect for Canadian democratic principles and values. Although all Canadians and especially voters in Vancouver-Kingsway would like a swift resolution to this issue (i.e. By-election) we have committed to them that we would carry the fight to the bitter end. While pundits occasionally continue to foresee our near retirement (it seems daily for the last six weeks) the reality is that we have strategies and tactics lined up for the next 6 months to 2 years (if necessary). We have faced this kind of cynicism on a daily basis… yet not only are we still here, but the choir of voices continues to rise in tenor.

We look forward to the continuing dismay within the PMO and Minister’s offices as the battle cries continue to go out and the troops continue to wage war.
